Windhorse Gallery, right bang smack in the middle of Bangalow's famous main street, is a feast for the eyes. Exquisite products, handmade, local, and artwork to purchase, and a great story behind them.
How this part of our journey began ...
"One Sunday morning Pete and I decided to go to Bangalow for breakfast. Since moving up here it has been a place I have always been drawn to. Walking up the main street I notice a " business for sale " sign displayed in the Windhorse Gallery. As I always wanted to own my own business, and Bangalow being so beautiful and suiting Pete's work so well (Pete, aka Peter Mortimore, famous Australian Equine Artist), it seemed it was meant to be! As I walked into the gallery I immediately fell in love with it.
This wonderful emotion brought about a huge change in my life, as five days later I had signed contracts.
We opened on the 13th May 2011, it has been a mixture of excitement and terror since that date, but gratefully excitement. People think I am crazy Opening a business in the middle of the " G.F.C.” but, oh well!
If we were all too scared to follow our dreams the world would be a far less wonderful place for us all to live in.
So here I am, in beautiful Bangalow owning an art gallery, and loving it.
From the outset, I decided to source items for the shop that are local or hand-made or both. I have enjoyed finding these as the region is richly gifted with wonderful artists, artisans and indeed jewellery makers.
With a mixture of other selected items that I love, I feel now that the Collection is almost complete, as I am always looking for new things.
I hope everyone enjoys the shop as much as I do!
